Projects, all in one place

  • NewThe mobile profile has a new Projects tab: every climb you are currently projecting, across every gym, grouped by gym with your try count and when you last worked it. Tap a project to open it, or tap a gym name to jump to that gym's page. Projects are listed while the climb is still part of its gym's current rotation.

Attempt counts, grades your gym actually uses

  • NewSend cards in the feed now say how many attempts it took: "sent Blue Traverse in 4 attempts". Flashes keep their own line and lightning treatment. Available on web and mobile.
  • NewGym owners can choose which grades their gym uses. Head to your gym's profile settings and switch off any grade you never set: it stops appearing when grading climbs, in filters, and in grade breakdowns. Climbs already using a grade keep it, so nothing you have set is touched.
  • ImprovedGrade pickers everywhere now come from your gym's own scale instead of a fixed VB to V10 list, so gyms that set above V10 can finally suggest and record those grades.
  • ImprovedFlashburns have been retired. Sending on your second attempt no longer gets its own name, ember glow, or profile stat: the new attempt count on every send card tells that story more clearly, and for every number of attempts rather than just two. Your sends and their attempt counts are unchanged.
  • FixedClearing a suggested grade or deleting the notes on a logged climb now actually saves. Previously both would reappear the next time you opened the log form.

Celebrations, wall sweeps, and a cleaner gym page

  • NewYour achievements now get their moment. Unlocking a milestone or leveling up at your gym brings up a celebration in the mobile app, confetti included. Several achievements at once become swipeable pages in a single popup, unlocks earned on the web are celebrated the next time you log a climb, and a settings toggle lets you opt out.
  • NewSweeping a wall, that is sending every climb in its current set, is now recognized: a celebration marks the moment, swept walls wear a SWEPT badge on their card, and a new milestone track counts your career wall sweeps.
  • NewThe gym page's climbs tab in the mobile app has been redesigned around image-forward wall cards: each wall is a full-width card with its current set photo, grade sparkline, your progress, and a NEW badge on fresh sets. Tap a card to browse its climbs in the climb sheet.
  • NewWall cards are shortcuts now: tap the sent, projects, or beta chips to jump straight to those climbs, or long-press a wall to browse its past sets and zoom the gym map right to it.
  • NewProfiles can now say more about you as a climber: share your favorite climb styles, the training techniques you swear by, and your height, reach, and how long you have been climbing in a new details card. You can also mark yourself as injured, which shows a badge next to your name until you are back on the wall. Available on web and mobile.
  • NewThe mobile app now introduces you to new features with a small announcement card after an update, dismissible per feature, with a settings toggle to turn announcements off.
  • ImprovedManaging more than one gym on mobile is smoother: the Manage tab now switches between your gyms inline instead of going through a list, and a View Gym Page shortcut shows your gym the way climbers see it.
  • ImprovedClimb details, logging, beta, and report sheets in the mobile app are now true native sheets, so they feel smoother and more at home on iOS, with proper full-screen presentation on Android.
  • ImprovedNotifications in the mobile app can now be swiped away: swipe left on a notification to delete it.
  • ImprovedNotifications now follow the familiar time-based layout: today's activity stays as individual items under a Today section, while older notifications group together under Yesterday, Last 7 days, and Last 30 days. Available on web and mobile.

  • NewIntroducing flashburns: sending a climb on your second attempt now gets its own recognition. Flashburn sends glow with an ember treatment in the feed, your profile hero counts them alongside flashes, and the log form explains when one applies. Available on web and mobile.
  • NewYour profile's grade pyramid is now interactive. Each grade wears its tier color, and tapping a bar opens every climb you have sent at that grade at your gym, with stats like first send, flashes, flashburns, and average attempts. Tap any climb in that list to jump straight to its details. Available on web and mobile.
  • NewTap the grade mix on a gym's page to see a full grade-by-grade breakdown of what is currently on the walls. Available on web and mobile.
  • NewTwo-factor authentication now works when logging in on the mobile app, and web sessions with two-factor enabled are asked for their code consistently across the site.
  • ImprovedCommunity grading is now sent-only: suggested grades count toward a climb's community grade once the climber has actually sent it. Gym analytics show sent and projecting opinions side by side, and the climb page explains how the community grade is calculated.
  • ImprovedThe feed got a visual refresh: more compact cards, smoother loading with gently staggered entrances, and flash and flashburn sends breathe with a subtle accent glow.

  • NewFeed posts now show who reacted. Reactions display a stack of avatars, and tapping it opens the full list of climbers who sent props. Available on web and mobile.
  • NewGyms now have a time zone, detected automatically from their location, so event times and calendars always display in the gym's local time. Gym owners can adjust it in their profile settings.
  • ImprovedGoogle Analytics has been removed from the site. Usage is now measured with our own privacy-friendly, first-party analytics, so nothing about your visit is shared with third-party trackers.
  • ImprovedThe homepage, tips, and about pages have been redesigned, with the homepage now focused on showing gyms what BoulderBase can do for them.
  • ImprovedEmail delivery got smarter: you will no longer receive duplicate emails of the same type in quick succession, and addresses that bounce are handled properly so mail stops going where it cannot arrive.
  • ImprovedAn accessibility pass across the web app improved labels, keyboard navigation, and screen-reader support.
  • FixedDates and times across the site no longer flicker or change on first page load.

Plan sessions together, guided tours, and smarter analytics

  • NewYou can now plan a climbing session and invite friends. Create a plan at a gym or any outdoor spot, choose who can see it, and other climbers can join with one tap from the feed. Hosts can edit or cancel, and if the time or place changes, attendees are asked to confirm they are still in. Available on web and mobile.
  • NewThe mobile app now includes guided walkthroughs that show you around: logging your first climb, browsing past sets, following climbers, adding a beta video, and more. Find them under How-To Guides in settings, and new users get a one-time invitation to take the tour.
  • NewThe analytics dashboard for gyms on the Pro plan has been rebuilt: pick a date range and see how every stat compares to the previous period, plus new reports for member retention, climbers at risk of drifting away, set freshness with strip candidates, send and flash rates by grade, and grade supply versus demand.
  • NewCommunity grade consensus now includes a per-climb breakdown of how climbers at each level graded it, and the consensus table can be filtered to climbs that need grading, the current set, or everything.
  • NewChallenges can now be scoped to specific walls and a grade range when you create them, and the included walls can still be adjusted from the lobby before the challenge starts. Available on web and mobile.
  • NewTapping a notification now takes you straight to the thing it is about: the climb opens in place, badge notifications jump to the highlighted badge on your milestones, and follower notifications show you exactly who followed. Works for pushes and in-app banners, on web and mobile.
  • NewYou can now delete a beta video you uploaded, on web and mobile.
  • NewYou can now send feedback straight to the BoulderBase team from the mobile app's settings screen.

Multi-floor maps, avatars, and following gyms

  • NewGyms with more than one floor can now have a separate map for each floor. Gym owners add floors in the map designer and assign walls to them, and climbers get a floor switcher to browse climbs floor by floor on the gym map.
  • NewFavoriting a gym is now following a gym. You can follow your favorite gyms, filter the gyms list to just the ones you follow, and see them in a Following tab on your profile, on both web and mobile.
  • NewGym owners can now choose annual billing at checkout for a discount over paying monthly, with a monthly and annual toggle on the pricing page and the option to switch an existing plan to annual.
  • NewYou can now give your avatar a fresh look from a new Change Avatar screen on web and mobile: pick from a set of preset avatars, choose a color for your initials, shuffle for something new, or remove your picture to go back to colored initials.
  • NewLeaderboards are now split into Current Drop, This Month, and All Time, so newcomers are not competing against a gym's entire climbing history. Available on web and mobile.
  • NewBoulderBase can now send notifications to your phone even when the app is closed, for things like level-ups, new badges, and fresh rotations. Quiet hours let you mute pushes overnight, and you can manage it all in your notification settings.
  • NewYour climber profile header now shows your total Sends and Flashes at a glance.
  • NewBeta videos in the feed now show a poster thumbnail, and TikTok beta links are supported alongside Instagram, each tile marked with its platform icon. Available on web and mobile.

Competitions, hold marking, and security

  • NewGym owners on Pro plans can now run scored competitions with custom divisions, point systems, and a live scoreboard. Climbers can join with a code and submit their scores, and staff can manage the roster and enter results manually.
  • NewHold markers can now be placed on climb photos so you can see exactly which holds a route uses. Markers appear on the detail view and in the full-screen photo, and gym staff can edit them directly from the wall map on both web and the mobile app.
  • NewTwo-factor authentication is now available in account settings. Admin users are required to set it up, and recovery codes let you regain access if you lose your authenticator app.
  • NewWalls can now be marked as hidden or competition-only. Hidden walls and their climbs stay invisible to climbers until you make them public, and competition walls stay private until the event is live.
  • NewGym owners and route-setters now have a full management tab in the mobile app, including climb placement on the wall map, rotations, team management, the gym calendar, and gym profile editing.
  • NewThe mobile app now opens to a home feed. Your activity feed is the default landing tab, with infinite scroll, redesigned author cards, and grade badges colored by each climb's set and tier.
  • NewYou can now react to feed activity in the mobile app. Tap to react, or long-press to pick from the full set of reactions, with instant optimistic feedback.
  • NewColorblind mode is now available in mobile settings. Climb pins, color swatches, and wall photos are adjusted to stay distinguishable across color-vision types.
  • ImprovedWhen a notification arrives while you are using the mobile app, it now appears as a banner instead of staying silent until you open the notification center.

  • NewA full ranking and leaderboard system has launched. Sending climbs now earns points and updates your climber level, and you can see how you stack up against others on a leaderboard filtered by time window and grade tier.
  • NewIn-app notifications are here. A bell icon in the header shows real-time alerts for level-ups, earned badges, and new rotation sets, with a preferences page to control which types you receive and a daily digest email option.
  • NewGym owners can now manually notify followers when a new rotation goes live, with copy that describes whether climbs were added, removed, or swapped.
  • NewConfigurable grading tiers let admins create, reorder, and color-code the tier badges that appear on leaderboards and profiles, replacing the fixed tier set.
  • NewGyms can now turn community grading on or off. When it is off, the suggested-grade input and community consensus are hidden from climbers at that gym.
  • NewYou can now opt out of leaderboards and manage email unsubscribe preferences from your account settings.
  • ImprovedFiltering climbs on the gym page is more powerful, and image uploads are now compressed automatically for faster load times.
